There’s a quiet magic in the hills of Donegal — a place where the land is more than just a backdrop; it’s woven into the fabric of our lives. This design is inspired by a day on the hill with my parents, trying to foot the turf, a task that’s meant to be precise, but I couldn’t help but stack the sods in a way that looked more like a game of Jenga than the perfect rows we were supposed to create. Dad just shook his head and said, “That’ll never dry,” but I wasn’t bothered. After all, I was there, in the hills, with the wind in my face and the midges in full force, surrounded by nothing but nature and the sounds of our family together.

Weeks later, we returned to collect the turf — this time, the hills were a canvas of vibrant pinks and purples, with the heather in full bloom. The landscape stretched on forever, untouched by civilisation, as though the hills had stood still for centuries. There, running free in the heather, were my children, their wellies sinking into the soft earth, their laughter echoing across the landscape. We sat together, sipping tea from a flask, eating a picnic, and sharing stories — a moment that felt like it could last forever.

This scarf is a tribute to that day — It’s woven from the greens of the moss, the pink/purples of the heather— a piece of Donegal, wrapped in the stories that have been passed down, from my father’s hands to mine, and now to the next generation.

A thread from the past, woven for today — to be worn as a reminder of where you come from and the family ties that bind you, no matter where life takes you.

NOTE: We sell two sized scarves- standard size 11” scarf and 17” oversized scarf that can double up and a wrap in summer. See image or get in touch if you want more information.
