Nature | Sustainability at Elsie Tweed
At Elsie Tweed, sustainability isn’t just a practice – it’s a passion rooted in my love for the natural world. Without the beauty of nature, there would be no inspiration for my designs. Every piece I create is a tribute to the landscapes of Donegal, where wild shores, rolling hills, and lush woodlands spark endless creativity.
Here’s how am trying to make a positive impact:
Minimal Carbon Footprint
We’ve designed every aspect of our production to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. From local sourcing to efficient processes, we prioritize the environment in every decision we make.
Ethically Sourced Wool
All of our products are made using 100% merino lambswool sourced from trusted suppliers who prioritize ethical practices and animal welfare. This ensures that our materials are as kind to the planet as they are luxurious to wear.
Local Production in Donegal
By keeping our entire production process local – from weaving to finishing – we significantly reduce transportation emissions while supporting the rich heritage of Donegal craftsmanship.
Supporting Local Artisans
Sustainability isn’t just about the environment; it’s about communities, too. Our commitment to local production helps preserve traditional skills and supports artisans within the Donegal region.
Future-Focused Craftsmanship
Each Elsie Tweed piece is made with care and attention to detail, ensuring it stands the test of time. We’re dedicated to creating products that leave a positive legacy for future generations.

Greencastle Golf Club Tweed
One of our most recent projects was designing a bespoke tweed for Greencastle Golf Club Pro Shop, located along the stunning Wild Atlantic Way. Inspired by the beauty of the course, the design features a circular pattern reminiscent of golf balls, with a color palette that reflects the surrounding landscapes—navy and light blue for the water, various greens for the fairways, and a hint of white for the flag.
Client Feedback:

Randox Health Dundarave Estate, Bushmills
One most memorable project was for Dundarave Estate, the stunning property owned by the Fitzgerald family in Bushmills. We created a custom family tweed inspired by the pheasant, reflecting the beauty and heritage of the estate. This bespoke design was woven and handmade into a variety of products, from made-to-measure gamekeeper suits to ties, cushions, and even dear stalker hats.
The Fitzgerald family, known for their success and prestigious background as the owners of Randox Health, trusted Elsie Tweed to bring their vision to life—showing that no matter the size of the business, we can craft something truly unique.
